Preston founded Preston Nichole Design LLC in 2014 after receiving her Masters from New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) and moving to Dubai with her husband.
Although relatively “new” on the scene, Preston has been exposed to design her entire life. As a child, her “coloring” books came in the form of discarded blueprints from her mother’s drafting table, her playrooms were showrooms and her toys were fabric samples, paint chips and packing peanuts. After graduating from the University of Virginia, Preston moved to New York City to pursue her childhood dreams of working in fashion and found her place at Kara Ross NY, a luxury jewelry and handbag designer. Over several years and many seasons, she further developed her eye and design sensibilities while managing the jewelry lines and starting a belt collection.
Finally, Preston could no longer ignore her real passion: interior design so she enrolled in a three-year Master’s program to enhance her design education and technical skills. While throwing herself into her studies at NYSID, she worked at Ingrao Inc, an Architectural Digest ‘Top 100 designers’ and internationally acclaimed architecture and design firm, where she was exposed to and inspired by their unique style, use of texture, scale and innovative materials.
Preston is currently living in Dubai, but she has several design projects in the States. She expects to soon call Houston home. Her projects are stylistically diverse yet she approaches them with the same goal in in mind: to create a comfortable, thoughtful and inviting space that is sophisticated, balanced and pulled together. She achieves this by utilizing textures, scales, space and lighting. Preston believes the interior should not only relate to the space it occupies (both interior and exterior), but it should also reflect the story of the people who live in it. A successful project, in many respects, is the sum of the details that go into it—and attention to detail is what Preston provides.
